Without education on why a person with a disability requires a built environment to be a particular way or how a mobility feature works, accessible design can become inaccessible.
Too often, a custodian of the built environment may use a mobility feature to help their commercial interest as they're conveniently close to where people may see them, like at an entrance. Without knowing, ignorance prevails, and people with a disability are forgotten or not considered at all.
This video journal details an example of advertising signage placed over and around the yellow bollard at an accessible car park, making the bollard visually challenging to locate and signal 'do-not-park-here'.
