Course: TSA-TGSI-1.4 | Length: 2:22 mins | Instructor: Dean Homicki
Transcript
In this session, we're going to learn about:
What are the types of vision-impairment?
There are many different types of vision-impairment. Vision-impairments range from mild-vision loss to total blindness.
What are the common forms of vision loss?
Cataracts
Diabetic Retinopathy
Glaucoma
Retinitis Pigmentosa or (Tunnel Vision)
(AMD) Aged- related Macular Degeneration
(NLP) No Light Perception
or Total blindness
How many people are affected by these types of Vision Impairments?
19 in 20 persons, or 95%, who are described as having a vision impairment have the most common forms of Vision impairments and retain some degree of their vision.
1 in 20 persons, or (5%), who are categorised as living with a Vision Impairment, experience Total Blindness. A person who experiences Total blindness has no measurable or useable vision, and no light perception.
In the next series of modules, we investigate what a vision-impaired person experiences and why?
I'm Dean Homicki and I look forward to joining you in the next Learning Session
